At Petron, we believe that our communities should grow along with us. Under our banner advocacy Fuel HOPE, we channel our resources and promote inclusive, sustainable change with our many Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

As the industry leader and only remaining refiner in the country, we have always been earnest in fulfilling our role in nation-building. Through Petron Foundation, Inc. (PFI), we aim to address national concerns in education, environment, health and human services, livelihood, and other advocacies in partnership with local and national government units, like-minded organizations, local communities, and our dynamic pool of employee-volunteers.

Our Programs

EDUCATION

Petron has made a commitment to fuel hopes and dreams. Through our education programs, we uplift the lives of underprivileged children by putting them on the path towards a brighter future.

Tulong Aral ng Petron (TAP)

TAP is Petron’s banner CSR program. Since 2002, it has provided scholarships to nearly 18,000 students from elementary to college. Our scholars receive educational assistance through school supplies and shoes, uniforms, and meal allowances, complemented by support programs for parents. TAP is implemented in communities that host Petron terminals nationwide. Select elementary graduates are then supported as high school scholars, with academic achievers having the chance to apply for a limited number of slots for college scholarships in either Engineering or business-related courses.

Petron Schools

In support of DepEd’s Adopt-A-School program, PFI builds 2-3 classroom buildings in the host communities of Petron terminals nationwide to complement existing but overcrowded public elementary schools. Petron Schools include the necessary facilities (chairs, tables, electrical & water systems, blackboards, toilets, and basic amenities) to promote a conducive learning environment. Since 2002, PFI has constructed 108 Petron schools, equivalent to 258 classrooms benefiting over 100,000 students.

Brigada Eskwela

Every year since 2007, Petron has actively supported DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela (National Schools Maintenance Week) through the repair and refurbishment of classrooms in public schools. PFI engages Petron employees and business partners to help Petron schools and partner schools in its fenceline communities get ready for the new school year.

Petron Engineering Scholarship Program

Our Engineering scholarship program supports promising engineering students to get their degrees with the aim of employing them at the Petron Bataan Refinery. The program is developing world-class engineers specializing in the petroleum industry. Over 300 Refinery engineering students have benefited from this program since 2008.

ENVIRONMENT

Petron recognizes that environmental stewardship is fundamental to mitigating its impacts. Thus, our environmental programs are centered on increasing our carbon capture and protecting the surrounding habitat in areas where we operate

Puno ng Buhay

Puno ng Buhay is Petron’s nationwide reforestation program undertaken together with employees, local governments, and communities. Launched in 2016, it aims to help minimize Petron’s environment footprint through carbon capture. Our mangrove planting efforts provide greenbelt for coastal communities against storm surges, while upland reforestation helps rehabilitate watersheds and ensure groundwater sources for communities. Our adopted areas also support biodiversity conservation and serve as venue for employee and community volunteering, while creating livelihood opportunities for residents.

Bataan Integrated Coastal Management Program (BICMP)

Together with the Bataan Provincial Government and the UNDP Regional Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), PFI helped establish in 2000 a comprehensive program to sustainably manage the coastal and marine resources of Bataan through an interactive, multi-sectoral and inter-disciplinary approach. With the BICMP institutionalized under the Bataan PG-ENRO, PFI now focuses on helping the province in protecting biodiversity through support of Pawikan conservation.

PFI also provides regular support for Petron terminals and refinery to actively participate in environmental celebrations that add to greening efforts, help clean waterways, and educate the public on caring for the environment.

HEALTH & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTS

Our commitment to grow our communities’ entails ensuring their health, safety, and well-being. We have comprehensive programs in place to support this and so much more.

Petron Clinics

The Petron Clinics provides free automotive servicing training to deserving out-of-school youth and existing service station personnel, with graduates having the opportunity to be employed in Petron Car Care Centers (CCCs) and service station lube bays. Trainees will undergo theoretical and hands-on practice at a partner learning institution. Graduates will then be given a TESDA assessment, with passers earning both NC-1 and NC 2 (engine) certification. This training will ensure their employability while giving the service stations certified mechanics to work in their lube bays.

Disaster Response

During times of calamities, Petron extends efforts to help communities that have been severely impacted. PFI serves as conduit to receive financial and in-kind donations (food packs, fuel, clothing, medicines and hygiene kits, etc.) from Petron, business partners, motorists, and in coordination with the DSWD, concerned LGUs, as well as with civil society partners. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, PFI also conducted soup kitchens and medical missions as part of relief assistance.

LIVELIHOOD

We bring livelihood opportunities to Filipinos through empowerment and skills development, leading them to greater success and productivity.

Petron Automotive Care Education (ACE)

Petron ACE provides free automotive servicing training to deserving out-of-school youth and existing service station personnel, with graduates having the opportunity to be employed in Petron Car Care Centers (CCCs) and service station lube bays. Community-based Livelihood Programs

Petron’s community-based programs benefit residents close to Petron facilities. These include livelihood programs such as rag making and dressmaking. Parents of TAP scholars in Rosario, Cavite have been producing eco-bags made from used Petron tarpaulins and are selling these commercially.
